Last Friday, Boise State Teacher Education students attended an orientation and celebration of their entrance into Professional Year.
The Professional Year marks the formal entrance of teacher candidates into their intern and student teaching semesters. Intern and student teachers work with mentor teachers in PK-12 classrooms, and teach in supported settings.
At last week’s event, professional year teacher candidates were oriented to expectations for their intern and student teaching semesters. They were also recognized for their achievements with a formal pinning ceremony, and concluded the orientation with a whole group reading of the Code of Ethics for Idaho Professional Educators.
Over 100 teacher candidates attended the orientation from the following teacher education programs:
- Elementary Education
- Special Education
- Early Childhood Education
- TESOL/ENL
- Secondary English, History, Economics and World Languages
