Meet Laura Gallo, an assistant professor in the Department of Counselor Education, and one of the newest faculty members in the College of Education.
What are your areas of teaching/interest/research?
I am interested in researching suicide prevention and intervention in K-12 schools as well as suicide risk assessment with counselors-in-training. I also have interest in researching how we conduct supervision in counselor education.
I enjoy teaching the Introduction to School Counseling course as well as Group Counseling and Child/Adolescent Counseling.
What are some of your favorite things about Boise State?
I love the welcoming environment of Boise State – the faculty, staff, and students are awesome. I am also enjoying the beautiful campus, and of course, the mountains outside my window!
When not working, where are you and what are you doing?
I am trying to get outdoors as much as possible and take advantage of the trails in the area. I love hiking and mountain biking. I’ve also managed to float down the Boise River a few times this summer. I also enjoy yoga. In the colder months, I enjoy reading and watching movies.
