Congratulations to TRS student and McNair Scholar, Halima Hamud, for being awarded the prestigious Harry S. Truman Scholarship for her tremendous academic success and leadership accomplishments!
Halima is one of just 62 scholarship recipients across the country and is Boise State’s fifth recipient of the prestigious award.
Halima is a model of leadership and advocacy both on campus and in the Boise community. She advocates for students from various backgrounds and works to elevate marginalized voices. She started the first African Student Association at Boise State in 2019 as well as The Circle of Excellence, which provides refugee women with a safe place to share their experiences.

We are so proud of her accomplishments and this exceptional honor.” – Boise State University President Marlene Tromp
