Last week, Boise State’s new President, Dr. Marlene Tromp, stopped by to meet with the TRIO Rising Scholars Peer Mentors. Dr. Tromp chatted with the students for close to an hour as they shared their experiences as first-generation students.
Being a first-generation student herself, Dr. Tromp was able to share her own experiences and offer advice and insight into what being a first-gen student means. The TRS peer mentors greatly enjoyed the experience and are very appreciative of Dr. Tromp for taking the time meet and talk with them.
Ask your mentor what they learned and how the advice Dr. Tromp gave them might apply to you as well!
