This summer, TRIO Rising Scholars student Elvine Chinabalire joined a team of St. Luke’s health professionals on a medical mission in Honduras. The mission served as an internship for Elvine, who worked primarily in the dental clinic.
This mission is something that St. Luke’s organizes regularly, and is a way of getting medical care and supplies to communities around the world where medical facilities are scarce. The mission is an intensive week long trip in which the team works 12-hour days serving multiple communities. The medical and dental teams can sometimes see up to 800 patients a day.
