Meet first-generation student and TRIO Teacher Prep participant Logan Powell! Logan is an Idaho native who has faced many challenges on his path to higher education – from health issues to financial struggles. “I had imposter syndrome (when I started college), I thought everyone had their college paid for, or could just call someone up if they needed help.”
Logan was also diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis at a young age and has had to learn to self-advocate and build supportive relationships on his path to college.
At Boise State, Logan has found support from TRIO advisors Estefany Giehm and Edvin Subasic, whose passion for helping students inspired him to look for ways to help others. “My challenges have created a kind of humility to connect with people, I asked myself how I could be of the most use to others, and asked myself how I can benefit society the most. Education spoke to me.” Logan will start his professional year in the teacher education program in spring 2025.
