Being a new student can be nerve-wracking, but our Spring New Student Orientation is designed to ease those nerves and make students feel welcome. This orientation is tailored for TRIO ETS students who are new to our program or haven’t yet experienced a New Student Orientation event.
On April 19th, 2025, 90 ETS students from across the Treasure Valley were welcomed to Boise State University. They participated in engaging workshops hosted by Micron, St. Alphonsus, CWI, and two sessions led by our very own TRIO ETS staff. We enjoyed a delicious meal at Buster’s Kitchen, giving students a taste of what campus dining is all about.
After lunch, students explored Boise State through a variety of tours, including the College of Engineering, the Physics Department, the Esports Arena, and a fun scavenger hunt/campus tour led by the ETS team. We wrapped up the day on campus with an overview of the TRIO ETS program, sharing valuable resources, important reminders, and information on future trips.
To end the day on a high note, we headed to Wahooz for a Student Networking Social, a favorite part of the event! This social gave students a chance to unwind and connect. While students typically interact with just their assigned specialist at school, this event introduced them to the entire TRIO ETS team, the people who are cheering them on every step of the way. The best part? Watching students arrive unsure of what to expect and leave with confidence, new connections, and knowledge about higher education opportunities that will help set them up for success.
Catch us next year to see what’s in store for New Student Orientation!
