Interested in exploring an emerging topic in online education with your peers? Our Communities of Practice (CoPs) are the perfect option! Every other week throughout the semester, you’ll meet with a cohort of faculty to discuss a topic in-depth and learn from each other’s experiences. Below, you’ll find the Communities of Practice that we’ll be facilitating in Fall 2024 and Spring 2025, along with additional information on what to expect and how to get involved.
CoPs for Fall 2024
eXtended Reality
This Community of Practice is intended for faculty and staff interested in exploring the use of eXtended Reality (XR) technologies—including virtual, augmented, and mixed reality tools—in online learning. During the semester, you will meet with a cohort of faculty and staff to share your questions, ideas, experiences, and best practices for integrating XR experiences into your online courses. Eight one-hour meetings will be held virtually over Zoom on a schedule that works for most participants. In addition to gaining inspiration and connecting with your peers, you will receive three professional development credits for participating in the XR CoP.
Whether you’re an expert in XR or a total novice, we welcome you to participate in our community!

STEM Online Labs
If you are an instructor who has provided courses online that include labs, we invite you to participate in a dynamic conversation focused on sharing practices, experiences, and innovations in offering STEM courses and labs online.
This Community of Practice will provide a platform for STEM educators who have ventured into online teaching to come together to exchange insights. From the conversion process of labs to the tools utilized, we aim to delve into the challenges and triumphs of online STEM education. Moreover, we’ll explore the potential for future work in this area.
