James McNamara's Watershed Processes Research Group
The Watershed Processes Research Group seeks to improve understanding and prediction of water, solute, and sediment movement and storage in watersheds. We investigate relationships between hydrological, geomorphological and ecological processes using integrated observation and simulation approaches.
We strive to contribute to a knowledge base that promotes sustainability of hydroecological systems, and provide relevant educational opportunities for students studying hydrology and related science and engineering disciplines. Our research generally takes place in a loose network of long term experimental watersheds and ecological observatories throughout the world, although most of our work is centered in the Dry Creek Experimental Watershed in the foothills overlooking Boise, Idaho, and in the greater Boise River basin.
