Boise State students Gillian Simcoe, Colin McJunkin, and Isaac Farquhar have created a mini series about last year’s Wapiti wildfires. The wildfires happened right outside of Grandjean, Idaho.
The series was published to YouTube on December 9, 2024. There are three episodes total. They cover the effects and aftermath of the wildfires. These effects are both scientific and personal.
Three members of the Geosciences faculty were interviewed in the mini series. Anna Bergstrom, Jen Pierce, and Dave Huber gave their input on the wildfires and their effects.
On July 24, 2024, the Wapiti Fire was ignited by a lightning strike. It burned over 130,000 acres across three national forests.
