Greetings from ISU Field Camp!
Professor and Director of the Isotope Geology Laboratory Mark Schmitz and 6 undergrads have joined students from Idaho State University and 6 other colleges and universities for 5 weeks of geologic mapping based out of the Lost River Field Station north of Mackay, Idaho. Mark said, “We park at the Boulder Creek Trailhead at its junction with Wildhorse Creek, and hike the trail into the field area which ranges from 8100 to 9800’ elevation. The geologic features we are mapping include the detachment fault associated with the Eocene Pioneer metamorphic core complex. It is a real privilege to explore this beautiful area in such geologic detail with a great group of young scientists!”
