Geoscience Ph.D. student Patrick Kormos has been awarded a NASA Idaho Space Grant Consortium research fellowship. The award will provide support for Kormos for the 2010-2011 academic year, and can be renewed for the 2011-2012 academic year as well. The research, which will be supervised by Professor Jim McNamara, is entitled ” Assimilation of Fractional Snow Covered Area to Improve Soil Moisture Prediction” and will focus on the use of physics-based hydrology and snowmelt models on the prediction of soil moisture.
