POSITION DESCRIPTION

Our Social Media team uses social media to increase awareness, develop the department identity and build engagement with students as a primary audience. They plan and implement social media campaigns to increase awareness, increase attendance at department events, support and promote academic and career advising, and market other department activities and services.  This outgoing team finds opportunities to showcase the department and express its personality by tweeting from department events, sharing Instagram photos of student and class activities, and coordinating with the Public Relations team to support department messaging. This position requires you to think creatively, work collaboratively, leverage technology, be innovative, and work with minimal supervision.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Strong research, writing, editing, publishing, interviewing, and photography skills
  • Experience with research, marketing, and messaging
  • Experience with planning, developing, and following a social media calendar
  • Substantial experience with Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, and Facebook
  • Understanding of social media metrics and analytics
  • Ability to work collaboratively
  • Familiar with collaboration tools (eg. Google applications, Trello)
  • Understanding of multi-platform social media marketing and cross-platform campaigns
  • Understanding of organizational identity management
  • Understanding of visual communication methods, strategies, and tactics

DUTIES:

  • Posts daily to Twitter, post twice weekly to Instagram, posts weekly or as required to Facebook, posts bi-weekly to LinkedIn
  • Posts scheduled notifications such as deadlines, reminders, and save the dates
  • Tracks department student organization social media activity in order to share it
  • Tracks COAS and University social media activity in order to share information relevant to the department
  • Attends department events and finds other opportunities to promote the department through social media
  • Supports the Public Relations team by adhering to department messaging and identity strategies
  • Works collaboratively to develop and implement multi-platform social media marketing campaigns
  • Showcases department activities including events, student projects, class projects, faculty and staff, students, and awards
