Biography

Cody Coker


Dr. Cody Coker is an organizational communication teacher-scholar who focuses on the ways that marginalized and disenfranchised populations organize in virtual and offline settings. He explores how individuals communicatively make sense of their experiences against and alongside dominate discourses in various organizational contexts, including work-life balance, communicating emotions at work, and navigating complex demands while working remotely. As a teacher-scholar invested in applied teaching experiences, Dr. Coker is dedicated to mentoring students through community-engaged scholarship, such as teaching students communication skills through partnerships with local nonprofits. His research publications have appeared in Computers in Human Behavior, Communication Studies, Qualitative Research Reports in Communication, and Human Communication & Technology.

Dr. Coker received his Ph.D. in Communication Studies from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, his M.A. in mass communication from Texas State University, and his B.A. in mass communication from Sam Houston State University.
