BOISE, Idaho – Boise State University’s Institute for Pervasive Cybersecurity has been added to the Consortium of Cybersecurity Clinics and the Academic Engagement Network of US CyberCommand. Being welcomed into such prestigious networks welcomes opportunities for Boise State such as expanding the Cyberdome program’s reach and gaining knowledge spanning cyberspace law, and more.
“Receiving these designations further affirms the fantastic work being done by Boise State to address the cybersecurity needs of our nation. The Consortium of Cybersecurity Clinics recognizes our efforts to serve rural and underserved communities and small businesses throughout Idaho. The Academic Engagement Network designation of US CyberCommand is a testament that our efforts are also helping the nation. This holistic, innovative approach would not be possible without the amazing work of our faculty, staff, and most importantly, our students.” said Edward Vasko, director of the Institute for Pervasive Cybersecurity.
Through Boise State’s competency development program the Cyberdome, students gain hands-on experience through real world threats and issues. This program equips cybersecurity students with six months of knowledge that prepares them for the workplace.
Both the Consortium of Cybersecurity Clinics and the Academic Engagement Network of US CyberCommand share Boise State’s goals in expanding and enriching the cybersecurity realm. The Academic Engagement Network of US CyberCommand has the mission of enriching the pool of cybersecurity professionals through engaging with academia. The Consortium of Cybersecurity Clinics aims to build a network of cybersecurity clinics in the hopes of communication to expand cybersecurity for public good.
