Ascend Survey

What is Ascend?

Ascend is an online data-driven program to help educators gather ongoing student feedback and learn strategies to improve student engagement and success. The anonymous online survey asks students about classroom learning conditions such as belonging and a growth mindset culture. Ascend promotes a collaborative environment through 3-4 inquiry and action cycles per semester.

Graphic shows a visual of the Ascend Cycle as described below the image.
The Ascend Cycle

What is the Ascend Cycle?

The Ascend cycle includes four parts: student feedback, instructor reflection, implementation of research-based practices (such as incorporating active learning techniques or fostering a sense of community in the classroom), and assessing the impact of these practices on student experiences and outcomes.

What’s the impact of Ascend?

Studies have found that enhancing the student experience leads to better academic outcomes and increased engagement. In a Student Experience Project (SEP) pilot cohort of 6 colleges and over 100 instructors, every college improved student experience, with an overall 32% increase in positive learning conditions.

How do I get started with Ascend?

We are excited you are interested in using the Ascend survey and participating in a SEP Community of Practice.
