Educational Development Specialist
Prior to joining the Center for Teaching and Learning, Christina served as principal of Shadow Butte Elementary in Emmett, Idaho. Before that, her roles included instructional coach and EL & Migrant Director for the Idaho State Department of Education and the Nampa School District.
Christina has 25 years of education experience in K-12 and at the college level. She has experience working with English Learners, students of poverty, and migratory students. She also has taught adjunct courses for several universities in the area.
She holds an Ed.D. in Education, Curriculum & Instruction (Emphasis in Literacy) and two M.A. degrees—one in Education, Curriculum & Instruction (ENL/Bilingual K -12) and one in Education and Literacy (K-12). Her bachelor’s degree is in Elementary Education with a Bilingual/Multicultural focus.
Christina enjoys spending time with her husband Carlos and her daughters, Mya and Miriah. She also loves reading, baking, and working on sudoku and crossword puzzles.
