Experiential Learning with Community Impact: Planning and Implementing Service-Learning into your course

This FLC is designed for faculty who want to explore integrating service-learning (SL) into their course. Participants will review SL models, try out SL essential practices, develop SL experiences with community partners, and take steps to successfully integrate SL into their course.

Other benefits of participating in the FLC include:

  • Connecting with an interdisciplinary community of faculty peers committed to using SL in their teaching
  • Examples of effective integration of SL with course assignments and discussions
  • Resources for enhanced SL reflection and assessment techniques
  • Learning new ideas and strategies for community partnerships and SL scholarship

Faculty can participate in this FLC in person or via online asynchronous modules.

In-Person

The in-person FLC will meet every other Tuesday at 1:30-2:45 for six weeks starting October 17, including these dates:

  • Oct 31
  • Nov 14
  • Nov 28
  • Dec 12
  • Jan 30

Online

You can participate in this FLC in person or via online asynchronous modules. The online modules will launch Oct 17 and close on January 30. The content, expectations, and timing are the same. Please contact KaraBrascia@boisestate.edu for more information.

$300 grant: Educators who participate in all six sessions and submit a SL plan will receive a $300 grant for professional expenses.
