This FLC is designed for faculty who want to develop a service-learning (SL) course — or are currently teaching one — and wish to explore SL models and essential practices, effectively integrate SL into their course, develop SL experiences with community partners, and get ready to implement SL successfully. This FLC will meet every other Wednesday from 3:30-5:00 pm, starting September 20th. Participants who attend all six sessions and complete a transparent assignment will receive a $300 grant for professional expenses. Other benefits of participating in the FLC include:
- Connecting with an interdisciplinary community of faculty peers committed to using SL in their teaching
- Examples of effective integration of SL with course assignments and discussions
- Resources for enhanced SL reflection and assessment techniques
- Learning new ideas and strategies for community partnerships and SL scholarship
