March 2025 Everyday Teaching Awardees

The Center for Teaching and Learning is committed to celebrating and highlighting great teaching at Boise State. No matter how small or large a teaching gesture, project, or effort may be, they all make an impact on our learning community. Every month, we are recognizing “Everyday Teaching” in our monthly newsletter. Join us in congratulating Julia Broderick (Sociology), and Brian Stone (Psychology) who have been nominated for their everyday teaching. Here’s some of what the nominators said about them:

Julia Broderick “Julia is an exceptional educator who deeply cares about her students, both in and out of the classroom. Her impact is evident in the way students go out of their way to greet her in the community, a testament to the strong, genuine connections she builds. She creates a welcoming and supportive learning environment by continuously reflecting on her own perspectives and ensuring her teaching is inclusive and engaging. Her authenticity and dedication make her not just a teacher, but a mentor and role model who inspires her students to grow.”

Brian Stone “Dr. Stone was my professor for my PSYC 101 course freshman year. It is because of him that I pursued psychology as my major. Later on in my academic career I took his Cognitive Psychology course, which was fully online. Typically I do not enjoy fully remote classes, and find it hard to be motivated in them. Because of Dr. Stone, I was fully engaged with the material; he made learning remotely fun and relatable. I also thoroughly appreciated the amount of depth his responses had when I would ask him a question about course content. He goes above and beyond for his students, and is undoubtedly one of my favorite professors at Boise State. I feel lucky to have taken a couple of courses from him.”
