Sparkshops

Sparklers light up photoSparkshops are coming back Spring 2023!

Sparkshops are 20 minute mobile workshops where the CTL comes to you. These mini-workshops are facilitated by a CTL staff member and are designed to be delivered in departments during faculty meetings or other teaching related gatherings.

Sparkshops are meant to spark faculty membersโ€™ interest in teaching and to catalyze departmental conversations around teaching and learning.

To request a Sparkshop for your department or teaching related gathering please complete the Sparkshop Request Form.

SparkShop Offerings

Each Sparkshop will provide:

  • an introduction to a specific evidence-based instructional practice (EBIP) or other teaching technique
  • potential reasons faculty might incorporate the technique in their course
  • examples of how the technique can be implemented in the classroom

Sparkshops are a great way to get a brief introduction to various teaching strategies or topics important to faculty in your department and to stimulate discussions about teaching and learning among colleagues.

For faculty who were present during a Sparkshop, their participation will be added to the CTL event management system so it can be included in Faculty180.
