*Many students are eligible for further savings through the Idaho Advanced Opportunities Program.
Advanced Opportunities (AO)
The Idaho Advanced Opportunities Program provides $4,625 in state funding to Idaho public school students and $2,500 to Idaho private school students attending an accredited private high school to pay for dual credit courses, overload and workforce training courses, and AP exams. Students must complete course registration with Boise State AND apply for funding through the Idaho Advanced Opportunities website.
Boise State Concurrent Enrollment works with high school counselors and district coordinators to ensure all eligible students have Advanced Opportunities (AO) funding requests submitted to cover their course fees each semester.
Boise State AO Process and Timeline
- Students register for courses during the registration period.
- After the registration deadline passes, concurrent enrollment teachers reconcile their Boise State class rosters to ensure accuracy.
- Once class rosters are verified, Boise State begins reviewing course registrations against AO funding requests. This review is on-going throughout the AO verification window and up until the AO submission deadline. Boise State notifies counselors of any discrepancies, such as if a student is registered for a course but does not have a funding request submitted to cover the course fees.
- Boise State begins verifying student enrollment in the AO portal after the listed course drop deadline for the respective term.
Take Note
- Students will see a balance for their course fees on their myBoiseState account throughout the semester. This balance is cleared once Boise State receives AO funds from the state and applies them to student accounts. This occurs after the term is over.
- It is important for students to ensure they have submitted a funding request to cover their course fees and to monitor their myBoiseState account to ensure funds are properly applied after the semester is over.
- If a student fails or withdraws from a course after the concurrent enrollment drop deadline, future use of Advanced Opportunities funding is impacted.
How to Pay Course Fees Directly
If students do not qualify for Advanced Opportunities funding, they are required to pay their course fees out of pocket directly to Boise State University by our listed fee payment deadline for the respective term.
IMPORTANT:Â If a student does not qualify for Advanced Opportunities funding and does not submit a payment for their course fees by the payment deadlines, they will be dropped from the course for college credit.
