Boise Park and Rec staff PhotoBoise Park and Recreation Community Centers in Idaho

The City of Boise Parks and Recreation operates eight afterschool programs in partnership with the Boise School District. The afterschool programs provide free programs for children from Title I schools including homework assistance, STEM activities, art projects, etc. Approximately 80 4th-6th students participants in the project each semester (fall and spring), and most of them are considered underserved.

 

Boys and Girls Club of Greater Augusta in Georgia

The Boys and Girls Club of Greater Augusta operates 9 afterschool programs at different sites. The afterschool programs provide low cost programs for students in grades K-12 with daily activities centered on five core areas of personal development – character and leadership development; education and career development; health and life skills; the arts and sports, fitness and recreation. The program targets 60-100 at-risk youth in grades Pre-K through 12th grade. Approximate 16 4th to 6th graders participate in the project in Spring and most of them are African American kids.

 

Northside Independent School District (NISD) in Texas

The Northside Independent School District (NISD) has 125 schools serving thousands of families in San Antonio. Guided by Problem Based Learning principles, NISD offers Learning Tree After School Program which provides opportunities for children to access academic enrichment, social, and recreational experiences emphasizing on STEM activities. Approximately 60 4th-6th students participants in the project each semester (fall and spring).

 

Prince Jonah Kūhiō Elementary in Hawai’i

Prince Jonah Kūhiō Elementary has approximately 200 students with 98% of the students enrolled are minority students, and approximately 71% are economically disadvantaged students. Approximately 20 8th grade students’ participants are engaged in the project each year. Key personnel: Prof. in Mathematics Mary Ann Esteban, Technology Specialist Joshua Faumuina.

 

River Ridge Elementary School in Georgia

River Ridge Elementary School has approximately 800 students with one third of the students enrolled are minority students. Approximately 15 4th to 6th grade students participate in the project each fall.

 

Stevens Creek Elementary School in Georgia

Stevens Creek Elementary School has approximately 830 students with one third of the students enrolled are minority students. Approximately 15 4th to 6th grade students participate in the project each fall. River Ridge Elementary School has approximately 800 students with one third of the students enrolled are minority students. Approximately 15 4th to 6th grade students participate in the project each fall.
