Student Speakers

It is a Boise State tradition to recognize student speakers to address their fellow graduates at each commencement ceremony for approximately five minutes, sit on stage with the other dignitaries, and be recognized with a short biography in the program.

Oliver MacDonald

Oliver MacDonald was selected to deliver the student speech at Boise State’s 115th commencement on Dec. 14 during the 10 a.m. ceremony. He represents the College of Engineering and will earn a Bachelor of Science in Engineering.

“Oliver has and will continue to impact Boise State University,” said Todd Otanicar, a professor in the Department of Mechanical and Biomedical Engineering. “He continually brings enthusiasm, humor and creativity to the campus every day while also displaying a level of maturity exhibited by very few students. I am very excited to watch the impact Oliver will have on this world.”

Carolyn Carter-Bailey

Carolyn Carter-Bailey was selected to deliver the student speech at Boise State’s 115th commencement on Dec. 14 during the 3 p.m. ceremony. She will earn a Bachelor of Science in Health Studies with honors.

“I could not imagine a more positive role model to speak to Boise State students on the cusp of their next journey,” said Whitney Douglas, an associate professor of humanities and cultural studies. “She is a stellar human being and represents what we hope all Broncos will embody: curiosity, a love for lifelong learning, an inclusive and caring approach to collaborating and working with others, and a generous, humorous approach to both learning and life.”
