Located in the vibrant capital city of Idaho, the City of Trees and scenic Boise River set the backdrop for Idaho’s largest and top-ranked engineering college. At the College of Engineering, better known on campus as COEN, we are shaping the future of engineering, computer science, and construction by preparing students through an unshakeable focus on learning to solve complex global challenges. Our commitment to lifelong learning, world-class education and hands-on experiences allows students the ability to work in multidisciplinary teams, conduct groundbreaking research, and foster partnerships needed in the 21st century.

We are committed to serving our communities in every way possible. Strengthening Boise State’s mission as a metropolitan research university, we are proud of our world-class faculty, staff, and students, whose cutting-edge research brings audacious perspectives to the laboratory and the classroom. They are crucial to not only Boise State, but to Idaho and beyond. We are at the forefront of advancing technologies in numerous fields such as computing, biomedical, materials, semiconductors, and the built environment.

Our faculty have earned national recognition as evidenced by 26 National Science Foundation Faculty Early CAREER awards, the Associated Schools of Construction International Outstanding Educator Award, the American Society for Engineering Education’s National Outstanding Teacher Award, and much more.

Our students’ creativity, ingenuity, and determination are evidenced by our continued success in student competitions such as the American Society of Civil Engineers Society Competition, the Associated Schools of Construction Student Competition, and NASA’s Microgravity University. Our students have been Barry M. Goldwater Scholars, Truman Scholars, National Research Fellows, and Academic All-Americans, and our graduates are making contributions across the professional spectrum.

After 25 years, the college’s successes have been made possible by the continued support and connection of our community, the City of Boise, the Idaho Legislature and State Board of Education, and the numerous industries across Idaho and the intermountain west.

I am honored to serve as the fifth dean of this dynamic college, where innovation, collaboration, and a commitment to excellence drive everything we do. I am excited for you to explore the endless possibilities of obtaining a degree from Boise State and enhance our programs with your unique experiences and opportunities.

I invite you to explore the opportunities we have to offer!

Dr. Amy S. Fleischer
