What do engineers do?

What do construction managers do?

What if I don’t know which area of engineering I want to pursue?

Many students begin with an “Engineering-Undeclared” major while exploring different engineering disciplines. We have dedicated academic advisors who specialize in helping undeclared students find the path that best suits their interests and strengths, all while keeping you on track to graduate on time.

What degrees can I earn in the College of Engineering?

The College of Engineering offers undergraduate degrees in the following fields:

What classes should I complete in high school?

Engineers need to be strong problem-solvers, critical thinkers, and communicators. Students who stay on the college preparatory track in high school and take as much math and science as possible tend to do well in engineering school. High performance in math classes, including AP/IB math, can be helpful but isn’t the only indicator of success. A well-rounded academic foundation in math, science, and communication is key.

Can I go to graduate school after earning an undergraduate degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or Construction Management?

A degree from the College of Engineering provides a solid foundation for graduate work not only in engineering but also in fields like law, medicine, business, and more. Boise State offers graduate degrees in engineering, computer science, and business disciplines. Ask your academic advisor about Accelerated Master’s Programs in the College of Engineering!

What calculator should I buy or use?

The College of Engineering doesn’t recommend a specific calculator. However, students are encouraged to check the Department of Mathematics website for calculator recommendations. A graphing calculator and a basic function calculator are good starting points. Some exams may require a non-graphing calculator. Students planning to take the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Exam should familiarize themselves with the calculators approved for this exam. The most commonly approved calculator for the FE is the TI-36X.

Engineering Professional Fees are a course fee equivalent charge per credit hour that helps the College of Engineering (COEN) continue its mission of creating an accessible environment with an “unshakeable focus on learning” by directly investing in improving and enhancing the overall student experience through high-quality education, hands-on learning experiences, and support resources.
