Engineering Innovation Studio

As our technical society becomes more digital, modern engineering students must balance complex theory in lecture courses with an opportunity to realize creativity in a real-world fabrication space. The Engineering Innovation Studio (EIS) in the College of Engineering at Boise State University is home to an engineering education with essential experiential learning through state-of-the-art equipment, software, and trained personnel to guide students in career skill building.

STUDENT PREPAREDNESS

Students utilizing the EIS work through various training levels, known as “tags” to receive access to equipment, tools, and different resources. The studio features four tag levels:

  • White- Allows access to hand tools, 3D printers, laser-cutter, paint booth, and workstations
  • Blue- Allows access to general fabrication tools (drill presses, bandsaws, etc.)
  • Green- Allows access to welders and plasma cutters
  • Orange- Allows access to mills, lathes, etc.
