In the College of Engineering’s Micron Student Success Center, Ambassadors display the innovative and trailblazing spirit of not only our college but Boise State. As a COEN Ambassador, you have the opportunity to represent and be a voice for the thousands of engineering, computer science, and construction management students at Boise State, lead recruitment tours, support current COEN students in their first year, promote the College of Engineering to prospective students, parents, alumni and friends, and network with distinguished alumni at special events while offering a glimpse into the life as a College of Engineering student.
The 2024-2025 College of Engineering Ambassador applications will be open on Handshake from March 5 to March 29! You must meet all applicant criteria listed in the following section to be eligible to apply.
Assist in the recruitment and retention of prospective/current students
Lead tours of the College of Engineering facilities and complex
Participate in outreach events during fall and spring semesters
Be a voice for COEN students
Represent and serve the student body to faculty and staff of the College of Engineering
Promote relationships among students, alumni, and friends of the college
Encourage students to continue their affiliation with the College of Engineering after graduation

Throughout your time as a COEN Ambassador, you will experience many personal and professional benefits that go beyond your monetary compensation. Beneficial experiences include:
COMMUNICATION SKILLS: Utilize and develop interpersonal, small group, and organizational communication through various functions and events
CUSTOMER SERVICE: Develop relationships, providing and interpreting feedback, and provide hands-on service
EVENT PLANNING: Experience with events, including public speaking and participation engineering committees
LEADERSHIP: Personal and professional growth with fellow COEN students
NETWORKING: Build connections with COEN alumni and industry professionals
Application Criteria
Must be an enrolled, degree-seeking student in the College of Engineering
Must be classified as a sophomore, junior, or senior College of Engineering major by fall 2024
Must maintain at least a 2.75 overall GPA
Must be able to commit to a full academic year
Must have a sincere desire to represent the College of Engineering
Compensation
COEN Ambassadors are paid $15.00 per hour.*
Average weekly hours fluctuate based on the amount of programs in which an Ambassador participates, but will likely be less than 7 hours a week. Ambassadors are permitted to have other jobs, either on or off campus, and are encouraged to be involved in other campus activities and organizations – in expectation that these jobs and activities do not interfere with various dates, duties, and responsibilities of being a COEN Ambassador.
*The Micron Student Success Center is offering Bilingual Spanish-English speaking applicants commensurate compensation for this valued skillset.
Applicants MUST be comfortable speaking conversationally
Bilingual Spanish-English speakers will be asked to use their skillset in speaking with Spanish-speaking students/families in both interpersonal conversations with Spanish-Speaking families/students and some outreach events
Applicants can indicate their interest in utilizing and being compensated for this skillset in the online application
