About Joe Guarino
Bio
Dr. Guarino began his teaching career in the Engineering department at Boise State University in 1991. He served as the Chair of the Mechanical Engineering department from its inception in 1996 until the spring of 2001. Previous to his BSU teaching career, Joe was a research engineer at Ford Motor Company in Dearborn, Michigan.

Education
- B.S. degree in Geology in 1977 and in Geophysics in 1983, both from Boise State University
- M.S. in Geological Engineering and Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Idaho, Moscow, in 1982 and 1990, respectively.

Areas of Interest
Dr. Guarino’s research interests include vibrations, modal analysis, acoustics, computer simulation of dynamic systems, and structural and machine health monitoring and analysis.
