Emily Bortz

Emily was born in Oregon, but grew up in Alabama where she attended kindergarten through college in the same town, Huntsville (a.k.a. The Rocket City). She attended The University of Alabama in Huntsville where she received her Finance degree. After graduating she rejoined her family in Idaho and met her husband Kevin. Together they have two sons, Eli and Caleb, who attend Owyhee High School and hope to study Engineering at Boise State.

Emily worked in various jobs before joining the Mechanical and BioMedical Department in the Summer of ’24. She used her finance and math skills at places like Idaho Power and Franklin Building Supply. Her other passion has been teaching children. Emily was coaching gymnastics at the age of 16 and continued coaching for 18 years. She most recently was the librarian at Star Elementary where both her kids attended.

Emily’s hobbies include gardening and landscaping, kayaking (on calm water), being a Cross Country/Track and Field Mom, and befriending the neighborhood cats. Her favorite vacation spot is a warm beach, like Carlsbad, Gulf Shores, or Destin. When she needs to watch a comfort show she may be watching Royal Pains, Psych, or Ted Lasso.
