The Smart Materials and Systems Laboratory (SMSL) is looking for two undergraduate students to work in their research programs.
Undergraduate Research Assistant (2)
Smart Materials and Systems Laboratory (SMSL) – Boise State University
Application Due: Active until the position is filled
Start Date: Immediately
End Date: Fall 2025 (renewal based on performance)
Research Scope: The student will work together with graduate students at SMSL and researchers from Idaho National Laboratory to fabricate acoustic transducers for nuclear applications. Job responsibilities include:
- Operate fused filament printers, material extrusion printers, and other 3D printers at SMSL
- Synthesize nanoparticles and nanoparticle suspension inks for printing
- Draft technical report for collaborators at Idaho National Laboratory
Requirements: (Training will be provided)
- Be a sophomore or junior undergraduate; students interested in the accelerated MS program are preferred
- Ability to commit at least 15 hours per week in the laboratory uninterrupted during the academic year; commit full-time during the summer
- Familiar with SolidWorks, 3D printer operation, 3D printing slicer software, or G-code
Hours:
- Part-time during Spring/Fall semesters (>15 hours / week)
- Full-time in Summer (40 hours / week)
Pay rate: $14-$20/hour
