Hands-On Engineering

Students working in the Innovation Studio

At Boise State University, the Mechanical Engineering program emphasizes hands-on experiential learning to reinforce engineering principles and manufacturing processes. Central to this approach are our two Experimental Methods labs and the Engineering Innovation Studio, where students actively engage in learning by doing. This immersive experience not only enhances technical skills but also prepares students to tackle complex engineering challenges with confidence and creativity, making them well-equipped for successful careers in the field.

Putting learning into practice

Experimental Methods I and II (ME 313/ME 413)

In the Experimental Methods labs, students conduct real-world experiments, applying theoretical knowledge to practice and gaining a deeper understanding of how engineering concepts operate in tangible situations.

Engineering Innovation Studio

The Engineering Innovation Studio (EIS) provides a dynamic space where students can design, prototype, and refine their ideas using state-of-the-art equipment and collaborative workspaces. The EIS is also a crucial part to many of the design courses where students learn how design translates to product.
