Environmental Studies 121: Introduction to the Environment
Spring 2023, 5-week Intensive
Are you curious about how the earth functions and what we can do to address major environmental challenges? Please join us!
Envstd 121 will explore some of the most fascinating environmental processes that make life on earth possible and examine some of the world’s most pressing environmental challenges, what’s causing them, and what we can do to address them.
Our goal will be to develop the knowledge and skills needed to help build a more sustainable and livable world for both people and our non-human counterparts, from species to ecosystems.
This is a 5-week course (Jan. 9-Feb. 10) that is online and asynchronous. It involves lively and engaging activities with your classmates including video-based discussions and debates and the opportunity to build an infographic on a pressing environmental issue. The 5-week schedule allows you to finish the course before your other courses move into midterms!
The course satisfies 3 credits of the Foundational Studies Program’s Disciplinary Lens – Natural, Physical and Applied Science requirements. The course has no prerequisites.
