Undergraduate Research Assistant Positions

End Date: Summer 2023 (renewal based on performance)

Summary

  1. At least two positions are available
  2. Depending on students’ performance, they may gain internship opportunities at NASA Ames or Idaho National Lab during Summer 2023

Research Scope

Each student will lead one or two scopes

  1. Use Arduino to prototype wearable bio-sensors or sensors for in-space structural health monitoring
  2. Operate an MTS load frame system to complete tensile testing
  3. Design and machine a high-voltage electrical poling rig
  4. Characterize and model acoustic sensors for next-generation nuclear reactors

Job Description

Training will be provided

  • Be a sophomore or junior undergraduate
  • With a strong motivation to become a graduate student is preferred
  • Ability to commit at 15-40 hours per week in the laboratory uninterrupted

Hours:
Part-time during Spring/Fall semesters (>15 hours / week)
Full-time in Summer (20-40 hours / week)
Pay rate: $10-$20/hour
