We know that students are getting a LOT in their inboxes these days. As you seek to manage the tide, please think carefully about unsubscribing from MBE emails.
We want to make sure you get the information about policies, events, and opportunities that will keep you engaged, on track, and provide resources and experiences that will make you better engineers, students, and people.
First, a bit about what we send and how:
- Weekly newsletters that feature news from the department/college/university, events on- and off-campus, industry and research news to keep you aware, and opportunities (scholarships, jobs, internships, competitions) that can give you more resources and experience.
- Event notifications – seminars, senior design showcases, end-of-semester celebrations, etc.
- Special communications – for instance, letters from the Department Chair
MBE uses MailChimp as a platform for sharing information with our students. The email address these generally come from will be mbe@boisestate.edu. We manually update the mail list to add the new students each semester, and the contact list is used for multiple communication efforts.
About Unsubscribing
If a student unsubscribes from a newsletter or other notice, they unsubscribe from ALL of the communication from the department sent via MailChimp. That means if you unsubscribe from a seminar notification, you will also no longer see any other email we send using MailChimp.
The newsletter is the official channel we use for sharing information with students. Those who unsubscribe will miss out on the opportunities included. (In other words, don’t complain you didn’t know something if it was sent in the newsletter and you had dropped us!)
NOTE: We had a student once who asked that we only send “pertinent” information to him. Apologies, but we don’t yet have the ability to look into your minds and tailor an individual email for each of our students that only contains what you think is important this week. You’ll have to look through these yourself for that.
About Subscribing
We can’t change your unsubscribe status from our end, so if you did unsubscribe, you’ll have to go back in and resubscribe.
Individuals who are not current ME students may subscribe to our emails, as well! Nothing is secret (and we know several local industry folks who subscribed to stay in touch with what our students are doing now).
