The PhD program in ECE was established in 2006 as one of the first doctor of philosophy programs at Boise State. Since that time, we have graduated over 60 PhD students who have gone on to jobs at many different organizations. Examples include Micron Technology, Intel, ON Semiconductor, Qualcomm, L3, Marvell, Samsung, Idaho Power, Idaho National Laboratory, US Air Force Research Labs, and many others!
When students graduate with an ECE PhD, they are expected to have the following skills, in accordance with our Program Educational Objectives:
- Independently formulate an advanced research plan
- Conduct independent research at an advanced level in a specialized area
- Perform research in a professional, ethical and reliable manner
- Provide knowledge at the highest level within their discipline
- Communicate a research plan in oral and written forms
- Effectively disseminate and communicate research findings to peers and the scientific community
