Building Info

The entrance into the Boise State portion of the building is located on the east side and marked with Boise State signage. You can head up the Boise State stairs or elevator to the 3rd floor to find the CS department Admin Office (Suite 364). Coming for a quick visit? The best parking can be found in the Capitol Terrace garage across Main Street (enter the garage from Idaho St. or Main St. between 8th St. and Capitol Blvd.). The first hour is free and $3/hr for each hour afterwards, $15 per day. More information on parking and transportation can be found further down this page.

Hours/Access

Since the Fall 2020 semester, building access has been adjusted to be accessible to the entire Boise State Community via their BroncoCard/Campus ID on Mondays through Fridays from 7:00am to 6:00pm. After 6:00pm, the building will only be accessible to students enrolled in CS classes or programs, CS faculty and CS staff via their BroncoCard/CampusID. If you are not Boise State affiliated and need access to the CCP Building, please contact computerscience@boisestate.edu to request and arrange for access.

Note: If you’re experiencing access issues with your Campus ID/proxy card, please email computerscience@boisestate.edu with: (1) your name, (2) student ID number and (3) the numbers printed on the back of your ID.

Labs and Other Building Spaces

The building contains three labs and other spaces secured by proxy card access during and after business hours.

• Kount Learning Center (CCP 241): This lab is accessible 24/7 by proxy card access to all CS students and students enrolled in CS courses. You can learn more about this resource on our Success & Tutoring page.
• CS 121 Classroom Lab (CCP 242): This lab is accessible 24/7 by proxy card access to all CS students and students enrolled in CS courses. However this lab is not available during scheduled courses and course labs scheduled here (see schedule posted outside of lab).
• Metageek Lab (CCP 240): This lab is accessible 24/7 by proxy card access to all CS students and students enrolled in CS courses. However this lab is not during scheduled CS courses and course labs (see schedule posted outside of lab).

Graduate assistant research neighborhoods on both floors and faculty office corridors are open from 7am-6pm and available by proxy card access after hours for students assigned research areas in these spaces. Access to the 2nd floor area is located at the west entrance (near CCP 221) and the east entrance (near CCP 259). Access to the 3rd floor area is located just west of the main building elevator lobby or the south access (near the Gardner Company Visualization Center, CCP 342), while the north access near the admin office is egress only.

Mother’s Lounge

The mother’s lounge (a dedicated lactation room) is located in CCP 220 and is available for reservation through the CS Admin Office (CCP 364). A key to this room will be provided at the beginning of the reservation and must be returned immediately afterwards. This resource includes comfortable seating, a sink and a mini-fridge for short term storage. This room is for nursing mothers and any other uses are prohibited.

Lost and Found

The Lost and Found is located on the third floor in the CCP 364 Main Office. Soon after the end of each semester, items not picked up from the prior semester are dispensed of.

The CCP 364 Main Office also includes the CS Department Breakroom which has a fridge/freezer, microwave, toaster oven, sink, etc. making it a great spot to prepare food brought from home. It also has tables inside and outside on the balcony for getting together with fellow students and faculty to enjoy your meals, wherever you get them from.

CS Main Office

The CS Department Main Office is open from 8am to 5pm, Monday through Friday. If an in-person meeting with CS Admin staff is needed for a complex issue, we ask that you pre-arrange an appointment (in-person or virtual) by calling (208) 426-5766 or emailing computerscience@boisestate.edu.

Smoking/Vaping

Per University Policy 9110 Smoke and Tobacco Free Campus, all University-owned or -leased properties are smoke and tobacco-free which includes our space in City Center Plaza. Further smoking in areas outside of the designated City Center Plaza smoking area (near the corner of Capitol/Main streets) is prohibited by our property owners. This includes electronic smoking devices.

Room Reservations

Computer Science Conference Room 352

With a standard capacity of 29 (has potential to fit 40 with a different setup), this conference room is located on the west side of the third floor. With a cantilever over the Grove’s northern spoke, it provides a sweeping view of west downtown and views up and down 8th street and through the Grove. This room is equipped with a ceiling mounted projector, screen and audio to fit your meeting a/v needs.

Computer Science Conference Room 368

With a standard capacity of 18 (has potential to fit around 30 by bringing in more chairs along the wall of the room), this conference room is located on the east side of the third floor. Located next to the top of the stairs and elevator, it’s easy to find for meeting participants and features a traditional boardroom table with built in power. This room is equipped with a ceiling mounted projector, screen and audio to fit your meeting a/v needs as well as a counter at the back of the room providing a convenient location for meeting materials or catering.

Computer Science Metageek Computer Classroom 240

With 45 computer workstations, this lab serves as home for a couple CS courses and outside of those courses is available as an open lab for students. This lab can be reserved for your special workshop. Machines are Linux based, virtual machines can be employed to provide participants with the setup needed for your training (technical setup fee added for this service).

Computer Science Computer Classroom 242

With 30 computer workstations, this lab is often heavily booked during the term for introductory CS courses and labs due to its unique setup which support team based learning and support. This lab can be reserved for your special workshop. Machines are Linux based, virtual machines can be employed to provide participants with the setup needed for your training (technical setup fee added for this service).

Computer Science HP Lecture Hall 221

With a standard capacity of 82 (has potential to fit 100-200 by removing tables and bringing in more chairs), this is the largest of the CCP classroom and largely used for speaking events such as our CS Tech Talk Seminar Series or other presentations. This room is equipped with dual ceiling mounted projectors, screen and audio as well as a lavaliere microphone.

Computer Science Classrooms 243, 259 and 260

With a standard capacities ranging from 36-40, these rooms are equipped with dual ceiling mounted projectors, screen and audio. Classroom 243 has a great view of the Grove Plaza out the windows in the back while 260 has wonderful side windows viewing the City Center Plaza courtyard.

Mother’s Lounge

Other Helpful Information

Catering from any vendor is allowed in all non-computer lab spaces; however, no alcohol can be on the premises.

Visitor Information

The Department of Computer Science is located on the second and third floors of the City Center Plaza Clearwater Building located at 777 West Main St. Boise, ID 83702. The Boise State Computer Science first floor lobby is labeled with Boise State CS signage and located on the east side of the building near the statue of the miner panning for gold. Parking may be found in the Capitol Terrace garage across the street with entrances off of Main and Idaho streets. The first hour is free.

Walk

A 20 minute scenic walk begins at the Friendship Bridge, runs along the south of Julia Davis Park, crosses Capitol Boulevard at the west entrance to Julia Davis Park and then heads due north to Main Street and the City Center Plaza building. A Google Map of this walking route can be found here. An additional option of using the Eighth Street corridor, BODO and south spoke of the Grove Plaza is available as well (Eighth street corridor map).

Bike/Scooter/Board

A 7 minute scenic ride begins at Friendship Bridge, runs along the east side of Zoo Boise (wave to the giraffes!), connects to 3rd street until turning west onto Grove Street and heading a few blocks to Capitol Boulevard, crossing at the Grove Street hawkeye pedestrian crossing or at Main/Capitol. Here is a Google Map of this biking route. This route utilizes park bike paths through the park and benefits from sharrows on 3rd street, light traffic on Grove Street as well as a pedestrian crossing at Capitol Boulevard that feeds directly into the CCP alley where bike storage is available. An additional option of using the Eighth Street corridor is also available (Eighth Street corridor map).

Skateboard/Longboard Storage

A hanging skateboard rack can be found in the 1st floor Boise State CS lobby. Proceed past the stairs towards the elevator and look in the nook under the stairs to find this rack which does allow you to lock up your board if you have your own lock.

Bike/Scooter Storage

There are bike racks located around the Grove Plaza and along Main Street. Bikes should NOT be chained to trees, signs, etc. Additionally a secure bike/scooter storage facility is available FOR FREE to students in the CS program. This is located on the 1st floor of the Boise Center East Building garage and accessed via the east spoke of the grove plaza (the alley with the large mural). Look for the large book in the middle of the mural and you’ll find the entrance below the book’s spine. After badging in, you’ll badge into another door on the left.

Boise State Cycle Learning Center (CLC)

Bike rentals from the CLC may be a good option for some students. Learn more at www.boisestate.edu/clc/rentals-and-bike-sales/.

Bike Repair Station

Need air for your tires?  There is a bike repair station just inside the Main Street Bus Station and to the right.

Ride

Boise State Shuttle Routes

The orange route connects the main Boise State campus, Lusk Street and downtown Boise. This route goes clockwise allowing the quickest travel from CCP to ENGR. Unfortunately at this time, the counter-clockwise Gray route is no longer in operation. Exact route and estimated timing can be found at shuttle.boisestate.edu. This site shows a live view of shuttle locations during operation hours.

Valley Regional Transit

City Center Plaza sits on top of the subterranean Main Street Station, the central hub for the Valley Regional Transit bus system. This provides an excellent opportunity for students living near VRT bus stops to use public transportation directly to City Center Plaza. Students planning to use this service should visit the Transportation and Parking Office, located in the front of the Student Union Building, to obtain a bus sticker for the student ID cards. This will provide free access to the VRT bus system. Find out if this is a good option for you at www.valleyregionaltransit.org/.

Park

We recommend visitors park in the Capitol Terrace parking garage across the street from the City Center Plaza building which houses the Computer Science department. The first hour is free. Additional paid month to month parking options include ParkBOI.

Normal on-campus parking options are also available, some on the west side of campus that would be walkable to the CCP building, or near Boise State shuttle stops so that could be used to travel downtown.
