The EXPAND.CS Scholarship Committee is delighted to publicize the finalists for 2014-15 EXPAND.CS Scholarships. Students were split among two cohorts, junior and senior cohorts, and will receive up to $5,000 in tuition assistance for the 2014-15 academic year.
A networking reception was held in the C.W. Moore Plaza Penthouse on May 19th, 2014 where scholars were able to meet with representatives from each of the EXPAND.CS industry partners and with fellow scholars. The hour long event fostered plenty of great interactions, with partners and scholars coming away feeling better connected and enthused about the future of the local CS industry. The intent of the EXPAND.CS program is to increase the number of graduates in CS and subsequently to fill high demand roles in local industry. A principal piece of this effort is fostering relationships between students and industry partners that will lead to internship opportunities early in their academic experience, and ultimately, long term employment with partner firms.
This reception was a great opportunity to initiate or expand these relationships for industry partners and students.
