Abstract: The transition from academic to professional is a challenging step. Through the experiences of recently graduated Shan Lyons, we will explore this process, software engineering in the web, and key learnings in professional coding.
Bio: George Shan Lyons is a Principal Software Engineer at AdWeek’s Digital Agency of the Year, AKQA, in a pool of more than 1000 employees across 4 continents. In 2011, he was awarded the Employee of the Quarter.  He has worked on VISA.com, Gap, Old Navy, Xbox, Red Bull, and is now a tech lead on AKQA’s biggest client, Audi.  Shan graduated with a Bachelor’s in Computer Science from Boise State University in 2010.
