Best Paper Award at IS&T/SPIE 2014 Data Visualization Conference

The publication “Visualization of off-screen data on tablets using context-providing bar graphs and scatter plots” from Peter S. Games and Alark Joshi received a Best Paper Award at the 2014 IS&T/SPIE International Conference on Visualization and Data Analysis in San Francisco, CA. Joshi, professor of computer science at Boise State University, advised graduate computer science student Games in the publication of this research which centered on determining the most effective design for visualizations on tablet devices. Due to the small screen size and limited user interaction capabilities, there are challenges to illustrating data on tablets but there is also an opportunity to provide a “truly tactile interface”. Read more here: Visualization of Off-Screen Data on Tablets Using Context-Providing Bar Graphs and Scatter Plots
