Bio

Dr. Anthony Songer is a Professor in the Department of Construction Engineering and Management at Boise State University.  Dr. Songer has 43 years of academic and industry experience in the areas of project and construction management and leadership.  His genesis into leadership began as a cadet at the United States Military Academy at West Point, New York.  Leadership development permeates every aspect of the USMA experience where cadets learn that a leader is responsible for everything his/her people do or fail to do.  After graduation from USMA, Dr. Songer spent 6 years as an officer in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.  He then spent several years working in both public and private organizations with an emphasis on project/construction management.  In 1990, he graduated with a PhD in Civil Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley.  His research emphasis was focused on project delivery systems and expert systems.  He has pursued a research, teaching, and consulting interest in emerging technologies, leadership and collaborative teams in the construction industry for the past 33 years.  An additional interest includes global citizenship and humanitarian engineering in which he teaches a course on the topic which culminates in an international service learning trip for students.
