Four of the seven recipients of Boise State Alumni Association Awards are graduates from the College of Business and Economics.
Rhea Allen, class of ’01 – marketing
Rhea is co-founder and president at Peppershock Media, a marketing and advertising agency with creative production services. She is a COBE adjunct faculty member, teaching Marketing 401 Agency Operations and Marketing 402 Creative Agency Immersion. Rhea serves as a Boise State University Alumni Association Ambassador. She served on the board of Idaho Shakespeare Festival, Pix Theatre Foundation, Nampa School District and is a founding member of the Boise Young Professionals organization. She also served as chair of the Nampa Arts commission. Rhea was named as one of the Idaho Business Review’s Women of the Year for 2007 and 2020. She received the Idaho Business Review’s CEO of Influence 2020 and the Boise State Distinguished Alumni Award 2023. She has a bachelor’s degree in interdisciplinary studies which combined mass communication and marketing from Boise State University and a Master of Business Administration from Capella University.
Roger H. Allen, class of ’58, Boise Junior College
Roger is president of Allen Investment Corporation. He is also founder and chairman of Avest LP and advisor for its two divisions, ACP and Stor-It Rental Storages. Prior to establishing and managing his personal real estate holdings, he was an appraiser, mortgage loan originator and loan marketing vice president for Mortgage Insurance Corporation. Roger was a tenured real estate and business professor at Boise State University for 16 years. Roger served on the Boise State Alumni Association board (past vice president). He received the 1978 Alumni Association Top Ten Faculty Award. Roger has an associate degree from Boise Junior College, a bachelor’s degree in accountancy from University of Nevada and a Master of Business Administration from Northwestern University. He is a graduate of the School of Mortgage Banking through Northwestern and Stanford Universities and has an internationally published book on real estate titled “Real Estate Investment Strategy.”
Cathy Hall, class of ’77, marketing
Cathy is retired chief of social work for the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare and the Veterans Administration. She is a member of the Barnwell Society and is an original member of the School of Social Work Advisory Council. She has an associate’s degree in business and economics and a bachelor’s degree in health sciences from Boise State.
Art Berry, 1973, corporate finance; 1981, MBA
Art is retired founder and president of Arthur Berry & Company. He sold the company in 2018 and now serves as honorary broker and advisor. His business interests include Commercial Ventures Inc., Berry Family LLC, Garrity Investment LLC, Business Valuations Inc., AB Kit RE LLC, Caldwell Holding Company Inc. and Kit Homebuilders West LLC. Art is a former adjunct professor for Boise State University in the College of Business and Economics. He serves on the St. Luke’s Boise/Meridian Strategic Initiatives committee and is a member of the International Business Brokers Association. Art was president of the Boise State Alumni Association and served on the boards of the Bronco Athletic Association and College of Business and Economics. He served on boards in the banking, insurance, manufacturing, distribution, real estate, education and community service industries, including Highway 12 Ventures advisory board. He has a bachelor’s degree in general business and Master of Business Administration from Boise State and a juris doctorate from University of Idaho.
