The first floor of the Micron Business and Economics Building is a student success hub. Joining other student-focused services — Advising and Career Services, Simplot Cafe, team rooms and the Jackson Commons — the tutoring lab is now located in Room 1100 next to Career Services.
Since joining the College of Business and Economics, Dean Ken Petersen has worked to increase resources for students. COBE Advising Services and COBE Career Services have increased staff and workspace, providing students greater opportunities in academic and career endeavors. Relocating the tutoring lab is another step forward in our quest for student success.
“Every student needs to have the best possible opportunity to graduate from COBE and Boise State University, as quickly as possible, with a great education, and with a great job.” said Dean Petersen. “Providing these core student services on our main hallway makes sense, as it provides our students with easier access to and greater awareness of these services (they walk right by them!).”
The tutoring lab has 18 computer workstations, table seating and 13 white boards. Open during normal building hours, graduate assistants staff the tutoring lab and offer free help in several subjects. A tutoring schedule (times and subjects) will be available soon and posted in Advising Services and inside the tutoring lab.
Come check out the new space. On Monday, August 28 and Tuesday, August 29 there will be cookies and COBE giveaways in the room at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.
