Boise State University is now offering its master of science in accountancy (MSA) degree online. Available on campus since 1998, the program added an online option in March 2017 to allow more students to enroll. The first cohort of online students will begin their studies in fall 2017.
“I am so pleased that our Department of Accountancy will offer this very high-quality master of science in accountancy program in an online format,” said Ken Petersen, dean of the College of Business and Economics. “This degree program is in great demand and providing it in an online format will make it much more possible for those who don’t live near Boise State University or who have challenging life situations to gain access to this very important learning and degree.”
The online MSA degree allows students who may not be able to attend classes in person the opportunity to earn their master’s degree.
The degree provides graduates an academic foundation for increased success on the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) exam. In fact, Boise State MSA graduates pass the exam at a higher rate than the national average, according to statistics from the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy. The curriculum also covers advanced accounting concepts taught by Boise State’s world-class faculty, preparing graduates for public accounting careers.
“We are excited to launch the online version of our MSA program this fall,” said Troy Hyatt, chair of the accountancy department. “One strength of our online program is that the courses will be taught by the same professors who teach the courses in our on-campus program. This model ensures that all of our students will receive the same high-quality instruction.”
Boise State’s College of Business and Economics and Department of Accountancy both are accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business International, putting Boise State in the top five percent of business schools and accountancy programs worldwide. Boise State also is a Federation of Schools of Accountancy member, which entails the continual development of high-quality programs, assuring students a purposeful education.
The online MSA is currently offered in a part-time format, with plans to add a full-time option in the future. For more information visit our Online Master of Accountancy website.
