A 2016 graduate of Boise State University’s entrepreneurial program has joined Avest Commercial Properties Division (ACPM-Commercial) as a commercial property management /development /leasing agent. Haggett’s appointment was in part due to a successful internship.
Roger Allen, president of Allen Investment Corporation sent a letter to Dean Ken Petersen, commending our internship program and coordinator, Gundy Kaupins.
[We] “share… our appreciation for the opportunity to work with this student for several years through Boise State’s intern program; and to then be able to hire him permanently after graduation. We commend Gundy Kaupins, internship coordinator, for his excellent communication and feedback with both the student, Blake Haggett, and the ACP Division CEO during the internship,” said Allen.
The internship gave Haggett school credits and helped him determine if he had an aptitude for and an interest in ACPM-Commercial.
“His internship advisor, Professor Kaupins, assessed and reinforced Blake’s ability to transfer his college experience to the practical aspects of the Avest Commercial Division duties. It was a very positive experience. Blake approached all jobs—big and small with integrity, determination, and enthusiasm,” Shawna Allen, CEO ACPM-Commercial said in a memo to Avest’s board of directors and staff.
Kaupins noted the success of the internship giving Haggett macro and micro perspectives.
“I like the start with the physical basics, accounting, and writing/leasing. The most interesting phase was looking at the financial and CEO goals. Actually understanding where the company is going from a macro perspective will allow the micro perspective (physical, accounting, writing/leasing) to make more sense.”
