Florina Salaghe is a PhD. candidate in economics at University of Nevada, Reno and a research assistant at the University Center for Economic Development at University of Nevada, Reno. Her research interests lie in the area of behavioral and experimental economics, decision making, spatial and urban economics. Her current research focuses on gambling behavior of slot machine players, vaccination behavior of cattle ranchers, and firm relocation and expansion decisions.
Florina teaches undergraduate courses at University of Nevada, Reno and has taught 6 courses over the last two years. In addition, she taught graduate topics while organizing math camp for the incoming graduate students. She presented papers and posters at eight academic conferences and was nominated as the College of Business PhD student of the academic year 2015-2016.
Florina completed her undergraduate degree at Babes Bolyai University in Cluj Napoca, Romania. Cluj is a beautiful city in the heart of Transylvania, an hour and a half drive from Tirgu-Mures, her home town. She majored in finance and banking and briefly worked as a financial consultant before moving to the United States.
