Debbie Flandro, president of the COBE Advisory Council, summarizes her table’s discussion on improving student career outcomes at the 2nd annual Dean’s Dinner. Business leaders, key contributors, alumni and friends joined dean Ken Petersen to discuss topics including internships, global business opportunities and essential skills for new graduates. Among other ideas, participants recommended adopting clear objectives and deliverables for internships, building an international experience into the MBA program, ensuring that COBE’s web presence confirms the high caliber of students who are graduating, and coaching students on interview preparation. Suggestions from these influential stakeholders will be reviewed for implementation by COBE Career Services.

Table facilitators were COBE Advisory Council members Dave Cooper, CPA; Debbie Flandro, North Quest Resort and Casino; Mike Mers, Aspen Capital Management; and Susan Olson, Hawley Troxell; along with COBE faculty Cheryl Larabee, Management; Jack Marr, Management; and staff Gerti Arnold, senior development director; CJ Martin, executive in residence; and Diane Schooley-Pettis, associate dean.
