Ask Me Anything! is a College of Business and Economics (COBE) and V-Squared Creative-sponsored recurring event throughout the year, that allows students to ask a panel of Boise business professionals questions about anything. The first edition of this series for the 2016/2017 school year focused on sales and entrepreneurship and featured a panel of five experienced business people. The panel was made up of David Bazan, founder of Time Zone Toys; Butch Whiting, co-founder of Kryptek; Dan Harrington, founder of NLP Secure and MaxGiving; Sheli Gartman, founder of Women Ignite; and Tobe Brockner, founder and creative director of V-Squared Creative.
Each of the distinguished speakers had a chance to elaborate on some of their experiences and ideas concerning business applications. Most members of the audience also took the opportunity to ask questions they were either curious about or that applied to their own personal business ventures. One topic discussed was the importance of having a mentor. Harrington expressed that “the right mentors find you,” while Gartman added that you have to “talk to people and let your ego down.” In another discussion, Whiting commented that you want to “hire and have people that you like to be with,” when expanding your company.
“I thought it was a great event lead by business people with real-world business experience,” noted Ryan Eisenbach, a second year Career Track MBA student. “As a student, it’s important to attend these events because once out of college, you won’t have the opportunity to have these experiences again.”
Stay tuned for more Ask Me Anything! events happening throughout the year, so that you can ask your business-related questions.
