COBE Graduates and Friends Honored as Distinguished Alumni

Four of the six accomplished Boise State alumni that will be honored with the 2016 Distinguished Alumni and Alumni Service Awards have ties to COBE.

COBE graduate, Tracy Andrus, is receiving a Distinguished Alumni Service Award. Andrus majored in marketing receiving her bachelor of business administration in ’79 and she earned a master of business administration in 2003. Andrus is president of the Andrus Center for Public Policy at Boise State.

Gary Piva received his bachelor of business administration in accountancy in ’69. Piva is the retired chief financial officer for Winco Foods. He is being honored with the Distinguished Alumni Award.

Larry and Karen Arguinchona are long-time friends of the college. The Larry and Karen Arguinchona Graduate Classroom on the 4th floor of the Micron Business and Economics Building, room 4001, is named for them. Larry Arguinchona will be receiving a Distinguished Alumni Service Award.

Neil Nelson, president and owner of ESI Construction, is a supporter of the COBE golf tournament which raises funds for scholarships. And, ESI was the general contractor for our building. Nelson will be receiving a Distinguished Alumni Award.

The Distinguished Alumni Awards honor those with outstanding professional and personal accomplishments within their chosen profession. The Distinguished Alumni Service Award honors inspirational recipients for their professional achievements and extraordinary dedication and commitment to volunteer service for the university and the Alumni Association.

The honorees will be recognized on Friday, Oct. 14, in the Double R Ranch Room in the Stueckle Sky Center at Boise State. This Homecoming celebration honors extraordinary alumni who exemplify the loyalty, passion and innovation of dedicated Broncos.
