COBE Advising Services
COBE Advising Services has moved into a new suite, room 1213, in the Micron Business and Economics Building. The new location gives them four more offices. Expanding our advising staff has been a priority at the College of Business and Economics. Director Debi Mundell looks forward to accomplishing more with the added personnel.
“With an expanded staff, we will be reaching out to students who are struggling to offer the help they need,” says Mundell. “We will also be at CWI campus a minimum of every other week and attend transfer events that are offered there. Â With more advisors, we can be proactive in our outreach to students which in turn will help students graduate!”
Our Newest Academic Advisor
One of the office’s spaces in the new suite will be filled by Kyle Nelson, our newest academic advisor. Kyle comes to us from the College Western Idaho where he worked as an academic advisor for almost five years. Kyle has a degree in history from Missouri Valley College in Marshall, Missouri. Born in Frankfort, Germany, Kyle grew up mostly in Minnesota and Idaho. Kyle enjoys the great outdoors that Idaho has to offer.
COBE Career Services
The move of Advising Services has opened up 1546 sq. ft. in suite 1120 for Holly Connley, career coordinator, and Laura Chiuppi, career advisor, to build a Career Services program dedicated to COBE students. A generous $25,000 gift will equip a video conference room where students applying for jobs outside the region can be conveniently interviewed via Skype. Additional funds will go toward career programming for COBE students.
Some of the projects Connley and Chiuppi are working on include a Career Exploration Series called Ask Me Anything!, Professional Networking Week and COBE career fairs which will provide valuable networking opportunities for students and employers.
